Carrie Rice is a SEL teacher, yoga and mindfulness teacher, teacher trainer, and former yoga studio owner from Southern Indiana. As a former middle school teacher and mother of 3, Carrie’s goal is to empower youth to trust their inner voice, embrace the practice of yoga and mindfulness, and give them space to just be. Growing up, Carrie’s parents always found a way for her to slow down and appreciate the beauty in nature. This was her introduction to mindfulness. She loves hiking, yoga, family dance parties, and movie nights at home curled up on the couch.
Ever since she found yoga and started to use it as a tool for her own physical and mental health, there has been a drive inside her to share Yoga and Mindfulness with the youth of her community. The project “Space to Be” was born out of almost a decade of learning, teaching, and loving all things Kids Yoga. Carrie has poured her heart and soul into this project.
As a mother of 3 (ages 10, 10, 13) this project is so close to her heart. Through many years of teaching yoga to youth, Carrie has witnessed how they respond to yoga and mindfulness. She has seen an overall improvement of mood, a sense of calm and relaxation, and changes in behavior in her students.
Mindfulness is a wonderful tool for our youth to have as they navigate the journey to adulthood. She believes this can help to create a world with more awareness, kindness and connection...one child at a time.
